Back from the past
So what I have been doing lately? Here’s a quick roundup.
On the 15th I shot the LCPJ peace rally. Here’s one of the shots I like a lot.
Later that evening there was a candlelight vigil at the courthouse. Here’s one shot from that set.
On the 18th I shot at a ceremony at Musser Park introducing the new lighting system they’ve installed. It’s really a beautiful in-ground system of lighting that illuminates the tree branches in the most surreal way. I’m curious to see what happens this summer once the trees get leaves. It will totally change the look.
On the 19th my good friend from the City got press access for me at the Hillary Clinton rally at Millersville University. It was the first time I’ve shot something political at that level. It was interesting. The similarities between shooting something like that and shooting a major musical artist were almost non-existent.
On the fifth anniversary of the beginning of the Iraq war there was another candlelight vigil at the courthouse. Here is one of the shots from that.
The nice folks from Building Character hosted the monthly Creative House of Lancaster meeting. I stopped in an shot a few frames. It’s a wonderful space and filled with interesting things to photograph.
This past Wednesday I shot some images at a roll out meeting for a program I’m the designer for. Here’s one shot from that.
Yesterday afternoon the Sertoma Club of Lancaster held the media lunch for this year’s “World’s Largest Chicken Barbecue”. Here’s a totally unrelated shot from that lunch but a shot I really love.
By the way, I’ll be chronicling the entire event this year spending about thirty hours shooting and posting from it. It’s ana amazing, almost difficult to describe event from a visual perspective. If you haven’t seen the shots from last year’s barbecue, check them out. I’m very proud of them.
And then last night there was an excellent public forum on immigration policy hosted by the ACLU and the LCPJ. No matter what anyone says, the ugliest lighting in the city is in the City Council Chambers at Southern Market. Great forum though.
And then this coming weekend I’ll be shooting the annual convention of one of the most influential political websites in Philadelphia. I’ll be posting those shots as regularly as wireless access and time allows. It starts Friday evening and runs through Sunday. I’ll be there Friday night and following the entire schedule all and evening Saturday.
