Music has always been my passion. The sad part is, I have no talent for it whatsoever. So I’ve always been involved with music in one way or another. It’s one reason I love to shoot musicians playing. It combines something I am very good at and love doing (photography) with something I also love but am terrible at (playing music).

Here are some images from March of this year. My friend, Michael Manring, plays in this part of the country about that time every year. He was kind enough to let me take some shots during the sound check and the performance.

And if you’re not familiar with Michael’s work, check it out. Chances are good at some point in your life you’ve heard him, you just didn’t know it. His work is featured all over the place, he’s played with a wide range of other musicians and bands and he is a master of his instrument in no uncertain terms. You can hear samples of his work at his website and buy his CDs there as well.

Enjoy!
